Would. A thousand times would.
To think that I live in a country where my parents have lived, worked and paid taxes their whole lives, in turn I have worked and paid taxes. I have no criminal record whatsoever. I have done nothing wrong in the eyes of the government.
Yet, I leave the country for 12 months. 1 fucking year and apparently, that deems me unfit to be seen as a New Zealand citizen any longer.
I have a freak accident and completely destroy my ankle, which results in thousands of dollars of medical bills and physio and I move home for support. But does the government support me? Am I eligible for sickness benefit as I am unable to work, therefore provide for myself (eg. EAT)? Am I eligible for ACC since it was an accident? No to all. I am expected to pull all this money out of my ass and hand it over, then be told that I will never fully recover and should expect arthritis to set in at an early age.
I know, it could always be worse. I know that. But this sure as fuck does not seem fair nor right. I’m not one for controversy but it seems I have no choice but to stand my ground and refuse to pay as I simply do not have that kind of money.
If you have any advice on how to proceed, please contact me. There has to be a way around this bullshit.

I miss my long brown hair. I miss the use of all my limbs. I miss Sydney.
